FAQ: Is there a different way of connecting the “inhibit in” on the N8900 series?

Refer he diagram below.

Note that this diagram only applies to units with firmware revisions PRIOR to firmware revision A.02.00.

When the switch is closed, the unit will be put into analog programming mode. Since the Inhibit input is grounded, the output will shut off. Also, since the Vprog and Iprog signals are grounded, voltage and current will both be programmed to zero.

When the switch is opened, the supply will return to normal operating mode, but its output on/off atate and the voltage and current programming values will remain where they were set while in analog mode (output off, zero volts, zero current). the y can then be reprogrammed from the front panel or with SCPI commands.

For units with firmware revisions A.02.00 and later, refer to the diagrams in the latest Operating and Service Guide http://literature.cdn.keysight.com/litweb/pdf/N8900-90901.pdf?id=2413279 .
